Cross Dock
Cross dock or cross docking is a logistics term that pretty much describes the effort itself.
Simply put a warehouse will receive a customer’s shipment at the receiving dock and move it across the warehouse floor to the shipping dock and into a waiting trailer. With all the right coordination, a “cross dock” of the goods from a sea container into a waiting over the road truck can be accomplished with minimal delay. Usually a warehouse will perform a cross dock exercise if the product is late from the manufacture or if the retailer is asking for the delivery of the goods on an urgent basis.
Fulfillment World has performed many cross-dock projects, much to the satisfaction of the shipper and the retailer. We pride ourselves on coordination. Coordination is the key to a successful cross dock effort. Our success in performing cross dock projects has resulted in satisfied retailers and consumers.
